About the position

The Sr. IT Project Manager at the University of Utah will oversee the planning, management, and completion of projects within the Clinical Research Enterprise Data Coordinating Center (DCC). This role involves collaborating with a diverse team of professionals to implement new technologies and initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on time and meet quality standards. The position offers opportunities for hybrid telework and requires the candidate to be local or willing to relocate to Salt Lake City.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the delivery of various projects, ensuring they meet time, cost, and quality parameters.
  • Manage both large and small projects, escalating issues as necessary to maintain progress.
  • Record and manage risks and issues associated with projects in a timely manner.
  • Guide, mentor, and coach junior project managers within the team.
  • Collaborate with others to improve IT delivery methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor project progress.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Facilitate meetings that produce clear actions and consensus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalency and at least 7 years of experience in the field or related area.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification may be required depending on area of assignment.
  • Demonstrated potential ability to perform essential job functions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a related area may be preferred.
  • Knowledge and practical application of Project Lifecycle Methodologies.
  • Experience leading effective teams from multiple disciplines.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, problem-solving, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience in healthcare, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), or research.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian products, MS Project, and Tableau Reporting.
