About the position

The IT Project Manager (Technical Product Manager) position at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) involves leading cross-functional teams to deliver innovative IT solutions that meet mission and user needs. The role focuses on managing complex IT projects and products, particularly those involving cutting-edge technologies such as AI. The incumbent will be responsible for project execution, stakeholder management, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations while optimizing resources and enhancing operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute objectives and milestones for IT projects supporting mission-critical programs.
  • Develop and apply project and product management tools, procedures, templates, and activities.
  • Establish project and product objectives, develop milestone charts, allocate resources, and manage stakeholder relationships.
  • Lead execution of the full product lifecycle using modern solutions, including AI and AI-enabling technologies.
  • Design cost/benefit analyses to optimize resources while minimizing costs.
  • Integrate configuration management, IT architecture, infrastructure design, and systems integration into comprehensive IT project plans.
  • Ensure compliance with federal laws, regulations, and standards related to information systems security.
  • Conduct program evaluations to ensure IT initiatives achieve their objectives and improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with top management to develop long-term plans for project implementation and administration.
  • Develop business cases and IT metrics, and prepare briefings, white papers, budget justifications, and cost models.
  • Research and evaluate strategies for implementing AI/ML technologies into current missions and processes.
  • Manage integration of AI/ML technologies into new or existing products or services.
  • Monitor technological advancements and make recommendations for future technology-enabled products and services.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Experience must be IT related, demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific training.
  • Attention to Detail: Thoroughness in work and conscientiousness about detail.
  • Customer Service: Ability to assess client needs and provide quality service.
  • Oral Communication: Effective expression of information to individuals or groups.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify problems and determine accuracy and relevance.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
