As the Sanitation Manager at Ferrero, you will play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and continuously improving sanitation programs, policies, and key performance indicators for our facility in Chicago, IL. This position requires you to interface with all levels of the plant, ensuring effective communication, training, and compliance with federally mandated regulations, including those set by the FDA and EPA. You will be responsible for the holistic direction and results of the plant sanitation program, which encompasses the plant, warehouse, and surrounding grounds. Your leadership will ensure that the facility adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations while maintaining compliance with food safety policies and procedures. In this role, you will engage with the plant management team to address sanitation challenges that require cross-functional support. You will evaluate the facility's sanitary conditions both visually and analytically, assessing risks based on food safety and public health principles, and prioritizing corrective actions as necessary. Troubleshooting persistent sanitation issues will be a key part of your responsibilities, as you identify deficiencies in the sanitation program or facility/equipment design. You will set the direction for ongoing sanitation verification activities and validation testing, maintaining and updating the master cleaning schedule to meet GMP and Ferrero guidelines. Additionally, you will be responsible for writing detailed cleanup procedures and Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs) for all plant equipment. Conducting audits against the consistent application and execution of SSOPs and related sanitation practices will be essential. You will also conduct cleanup inspections and verifications of sanitation and allergen cleanings using swabs and samples collected for analysis. As a member of the HACCP Team, you will coordinate and prepare the plant for internal and third-party audits, ensuring compliance with all safety requirements related to sanitation, including proper chemical storage and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Your role will also involve contributing to and potentially coordinating mandated plant-wide Food Safety and GMP training for all employees, ensuring that everyone is equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
