About the position

Ardent is seeking an IT Project Manager to join our team in a remote capacity, with a preference for candidates located in the Washington D.C. area. This role involves organizing, directing, and managing contract operation support functions that encompass multiple, complex, and inter-related project tasks. The IT Project Manager will be responsible for managing teams of contract support personnel across various locations, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among team members. A key aspect of this position is maintaining and managing the client interface at senior levels within the client organization, which requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders. The IT Project Manager will meet regularly with customer and contractor personnel to formulate and review task plans and deliverable items, ensuring that all activities conform to program task schedules and budgetary constraints. This role also involves establishing and maintaining technical and financial reports to demonstrate project progress to management and customers. The Project Manager will be tasked with organizing and delegating responsibilities to subordinates, overseeing the successful completion of all assigned tasks, and ensuring that project objectives are met efficiently and effectively. Candidates for this position should have a solid understanding of best practices in IT software development and systems implementation, particularly within an Agile framework. The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of experience managing IT teams, particularly in a Scrum/Agile environment, and will have a background in managing Federal Government contracts. The role requires proactive problem-solving skills, the ability to work autonomously, and superb verbal and written communication skills, especially in client-facing situations. Attention to detail is crucial, as is the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. The successful candidate will also have experience managing diverse functional activities and subordinate groups of technical and administrative personnel, working closely with client decision-makers on system designs that adhere to client-mandated policies and governance.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes, directs, and manages contract operation support functions involving multiple, complex, and inter-related project tasks.
  • Manages teams of contract support personnel at multiple locations.
  • Maintains and manages the client interface at senior levels of the client organization.
  • Meets with customer and contractor personnel to formulate and review task plans and deliverable items.
  • Ensures conformance with program task schedules and costs.
  • Establishes and maintains technical and financial reports to show progress of projects to management and customers.
  • Organizes and delegates responsibilities to subordinates and oversees the successful completion of all assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • An understanding of best practices with respect to IT software development and systems implementation (Agile).
  • 8+ years' experience managing IT teams, with experience within Scrum/Agile environment and with Federal background.
  • Experience managing teams (8+) and overall revenue of $5M+.
  • Experience managing Federal Government contracts.
  • Proactive problem solving and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills and client-facing experience.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Experience in managing a diverse group of functional activities and subordinate groups of technical and administrative personnel.
  • Ability to work with client decision makers on particular systems designs within the confines of client-mandated policies and governance.
  • General finance, project control and project management analysis, budgeting, general accounting, cost accounting, accounts receivable, operations administration, and strategic planning.
  • Working knowledge of the project control discipline with the ability to complete difficult assignments.
