About the position

The IT Project Manager role focuses on managing large-scale projects within the energy and utility domain, specifically targeting projects that last 2-3 years and exceed $5 million in budget. The position requires a strong background in IT project management methodologies, including Waterfall and Agile, and emphasizes the importance of vendor management and project planning. The role is hybrid, requiring onsite presence in Portland, OR, for three days a week, and involves occasional travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage large vendor projects in the energy and utility domain.
• Create and maintain detailed project plans broken down into features, epics, and stories.
• Forecast and track defect rates and velocity.
• Develop recovery plans to address schedule or resource impacts.
• Utilize business risk management methodologies for scoring and reporting.
• Create and manage burn-down charts for development efforts.
• Oversee integrated project plans and dependencies with pitcher-catcher milestones.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in IT project management.
• Strong experience in the energy and utility domain.
• Proven track record of managing projects lasting 2-3 years and over $5 million.
• Hands-on experience with ADO and MPP.
• Experience with Waterfall, Agile, and Agile-Hybrid project methodologies.
• Ability to create and maintain detailed project plans and manage timelines with multiple vendors.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Energy Market Applications or Utility Operations.
• Finance background and application development experience.
• Implementation experience with Energy Market, Trading and Settlement applications such as MCG, PCI, OATI, or Power Settlements.
