About the position

The IT Project Manager with Jira role is a contract position based in Birmingham, Alabama, focused on managing Information Security, Application Development, and Tech Support projects. The position requires the individual to provide project management expertise to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and within scope. The IT PM will lead project teams, utilize project management tools, and ensure compliance with IT processes while enhancing customer satisfaction. This hybrid role involves managing medium to large projects, mentoring team members, and staying current on project management techniques and industry trends.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, guide and implement IT projects and programs that support corporate strategic objectives.
• Utilize divisional standard project management methodology and solution delivery method to ensure proper performance and execution of projects.
• Create positive, professional relationships with both internal and external customers.
• Analyze technical and business processes and implement improvements.
• Provide visibility into projects and report progress to management and governing bodies.
• Manage risks and issues that occur during the project lifecycle.
• Mentor, educate, and train project teams on project management best practices.
• Attend technical training sessions and classes as required.
• Analyze and review ITPO metrics and key performance indicators of various IT efforts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science (CS), or related technical field.
• At least 4 years of IT experience with at least 2 years in IT project management in a structured project environment.
• Knowledge of information technology applications, processes, software, and hardware.
• Experience in project management techniques and methodologies.
• Experience using MS Project, MS Office, or similar applications.
• Proven experience leading medium-sized corporate projects as an IT Project Manager.
• Experience with project management or Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tools.
• Experience with project planning, scheduling, tracking, and reporting.
• Experience with project risk and issue management.
• Solid communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience with educating, training, and mentoring project teams.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience as an IT functional subject matter expert (SME).
• Hands-on coding experience.
• Experience in software engineering or IT Infrastructure.
