About the position

Georgia-Pacific is seeking to add an IT Project Manager to our IT Team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading, organizing, and motivating project teams to successfully deliver IT projects for our customers. Projects will vary in complexity, size, scope, and methodology - traditional (waterfall), agile, and hybrid approaches are all utilized within the organization. The PM is accountable for all aspects of the project in a fast-paced environment focused on value contribution. Expectation to manage 3-4 high visibility efforts in parallel. Some after-hours or weekend work may be required, and minimal travel is expected (estimated 10% - 15%). Both will vary based on project needs. We operate on a hybrid schedule. This role is a key member of the IT Enterprise Project Management Organization (PMO) within the IT Business Office supporting all of GP IT projects. We manage a wide portfolio of critical efforts supporting the needs of our businesses. We partner with our customers to define, execute, promote, and drive delivery utilizing best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a sense of urgency by managing and driving project scope, issues, risks, stakeholders, communications, and financials while seeking value-added improvement opportunities.
  • Quickly learn new business processes and get up to speed with project objectives, stakeholders, resources, and KPIs.
  • Provide project leadership - accountable to drive all aspects of the project.
  • Proactively escalate issues or concerns, and drive resolutions when there are changes to the project scope, resources, schedule, and budget.
  • Determine the methodology used on the project (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
  • Utilize effective leadership skills to influence cross-functional team members that are dynamic, solution oriented, and delivery driven to successfully deliver the highest value goals and outcomes.
  • Ensure team members are held accountable for deliverables and expectations.
  • Build Preferred Partnerships. Create strong relationships with project team and stakeholders.
  • Utilize best practices. Identify and enhance project management best practices within the organization.
  • Leverage strong interpersonal skills to share knowledge and help foster growth by mentoring others within the team and broader IT organization.
  • Embrace transparency and challenge your stakeholders and project team members as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Experience leading application software development projects - including Traditional methodologies, Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban), or Hybrid.
  • Complete lifecycle experience managing multiple, concurrent IT projects from ideation to close.
