About the position

The IT Project Manager at the City of Pasco is a pivotal role responsible for the successful planning, execution, and delivery of IT projects within the Information Technology department. This position operates under the general supervision of the Director of IT and is tasked with ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of stakeholders. The IT Project Manager will be involved in all phases of project management, from defining project objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) to overseeing quality control throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires a proactive approach to managing resources, coordinating team efforts, and liaising with third-party contractors or consultants to achieve project goals. In this role, the IT Project Manager will develop comprehensive project plans that outline scope, budget, and schedule adherence. They will coordinate and lead project meetings with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external vendors to ensure alignment and progress. Risk management is a critical aspect of this position, as the IT Project Manager will identify potential issues and develop effective mitigation strategies. Utilizing project management methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall, the IT Project Manager will optimize workflows and processes to enhance project delivery. The IT Project Manager will also be responsible for providing detailed project reporting and analytics, ensuring that stakeholders have clear insights into project progress and performance. Quality assurance is another key responsibility, as the IT Project Manager will ensure that all deliverables meet the required standards and stakeholder expectations. Acting as the central point of communication for project status, changes, and issues, the IT Project Manager will facilitate change management processes, guiding IT teams in adapting to new technologies and processes. Additionally, the role involves preparing and managing project budgets, resource allocation, and scheduling, as well as developing essential project documentation, including charters, plans, schedules, and status reports.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in managing, planning, administering, implementing, or delivering technology-based projects.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred; if not certified, the incumbent will be required to obtain certification within one (1) year of hire.
