About the position

The IT Project Manager will play a crucial role in facilitating projects within the Information Technology department, ensuring effective communication and collaboration between teams, leadership, and business stakeholders. This position is essential for the successful implementation of initiatives that require technical support, aligning with the company's short- and long-term goals. The IT Project Manager will work closely with IT Leadership to foster a collaborative environment that unites people, processes, and products, ultimately delivering continuous value to end users. In this role, the IT Project Manager will lead project planning and management using various methodologies, including Iterative Waterfall, Agile, and Lean Sigma. Responsibilities include ensuring that project goals, scope, and product features are clearly understood, managing the Product Backlog effectively, and promoting agility while removing any impediments to progress. The IT Project Manager will also be responsible for keeping internal and external project teams motivated and productive throughout the project lifecycle. The position requires organizing and steering project-specific meetings, maintaining project documentation, and leading retrospectives to capture lessons learned. The IT Project Manager will develop a comprehensive understanding of each business department's role and work closely with management teams to identify needs where IT can make a significant impact. Additionally, the role involves preparing project timelines, defining baselines, tracking progress, and ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints while providing regular status reports. Continuous professional development is encouraged, with opportunities to attend workshops and participate in professional societies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project planning and management for the IT department using various methodologies including Iterative Waterfall, Agile, and Lean Sigma.
  • Ensure project goals, scope, and product features are understandable and manage the Product Backlog effectively.
  • Keep internal and external project teams committed, motivated, and productive throughout the project duration.
  • Organize, schedule, and steer project-specific meetings; create and maintain project-specific documents such as status sheets and roadmaps.
  • Lead retrospectives and lessons learned, planning, and tracking velocity of work towards releases.
  • Develop an understanding of each business department's role and work closely with management teams to determine needs.
  • Prepare comprehensive project timelines, agendas, milestones, and charters.
  • Define project baselines, track project progress, and report project status while making necessary changes following a pre-approved change control process.
  • Control time management by defining, sequencing, estimating duration, and maintaining project schedules.
  • Target completion of process improvement projects within specified time frames while achieving cost reduction goals.
  • Partner with IT leaders, business units, and key stakeholders to ensure accountability of data through governance processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. / B.S.) from a four-year college or university or 7 years' experience in IT Project Management.
  • PMP Certification (Preferred).
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) (Preferred) or 5 - 7 years of direct, hands-on experience as a Project Manager.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations.
  • Previous experience facilitating a Scrum framework.
  • Experience participating in all stages of the IT project development cycle (planning, design, implementation, and testing).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project, Jira, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel.
