The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Information Technology Division is seeking a senior Project Manager to manage and deliver complex IT projects involving multiple teams and work streams, all coordinated to meet an aggressive delivery schedule. The selected candidate will work under the program manager and will be responsible for the successful outcome of assigned projects. This role requires a hands-on approach, working closely with development staff and business groups to ensure effective project execution. The project manager will be tasked with coordinating and communicating with ITD management and staff to align work tasks and resources effectively. Clear communication of timelines and expectations to both technical and business staff is essential. The role also involves collaboration with vendors, consultants, and contractors, including managing contracts and liaising with procurement offices. Adherence to VDOT and VITA project management practices and governance requirements is crucial, as is coordination with the respective Project Management Offices. Key responsibilities include maintaining project budgets, plans, tasks, schedules, risks, and status updates, as well as ensuring that all project documentation, including requirements and use cases, is accurately recorded. The project manager will facilitate design workshops, define test objectives, and design test plans and cases for assigned projects. They will also manage project milestones and deliverables to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery, while clearly communicating progress through defined metrics. Additionally, the project manager will support system and application training efforts as needed.
