About the position

The IT Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing major IT projects within the Division of Information Technology. This role involves overseeing project personnel, enforcing project management standards, and ensuring successful implementations of projects through creative and innovative solutions. The incumbent will serve as a liaison between business and technical aspects, contributing to the development of business processes and participating in budgeting for IT projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and leads collegewide IT projects through the development, planning, budgeting, implementation and closeout phases.
  • Develops business/IT process improvement initiatives and provides direction in the preparation of standards for reports and project plans.
  • Leads the implementation and enforcement of a successful project management methodology. Establishes and maintains project standards throughout the entire lifecycle.
  • Prepares reports and recommendations for project approval to IT Directors and the vice president for information technology.
  • Oversees contract/bid management (tracking information technology contracts) and financial management of project budgets and costs.
  • Establishes and implements project communication plans, providing status updates to affected sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Coordinates interaction with external vendors when evaluating new IT products and services for the college.
  • Leads the review and maintenance of IT related policies in collaboration with IT leadership.
  • Contributes to the development, maintenance and testing of the college's disaster recovery plan.
  • Provides regular status updates of IT projects and ensures compliance with established requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a project management role/function.
  • Project management certification is preferred.

  • Knowledge of State of Delaware bid process and vendor selection process.
  • Knowledge of business process methodologies.
