About the position

The IT Project Manager role focuses on training and supporting Abbott's IT Project and Program Managers in utilizing standard tools and processes for effective project management. This position emphasizes continuous improvement within the IT PM community and fosters personal development among project managers. The IT Project Manager will also provide guidance on best practices and facilitate discussions to enhance project management capabilities across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Train Abbott IT Project and Program Managers on the use of standard tools and processes in support of managing IT projects.
  • Partner with the IT Project Management Office and Talent Development Office on process and skill-building initiatives for IT Project and Program Managers.
  • Support the IT PM community, driving continuous improvement with experienced Project and Program Managers, fostering interest in PM acumen and personal development across the IT organization.
  • Advise, coach, and facilitate discussions with IT project leads and leaders on Project Management best practices, approaches, and resources.
  • Provide regular updates to management on Project Management capabilities, tracking project management delivery against objectives.

Requirements

  • Ability to apply a structured project management approach and methodology
  • Experience with project management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle
  • Highly developed communication skills with expertise in producing organization-wide communications
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and to work as part of a geographically diverse team
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with experience exercising mature judgment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
