About the position

The IT Project Manager position in Columbia, SC, is a contract role lasting 12+ months, focused on leading multiple projects within a strong matrix environment. The successful candidate will execute Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, developing and monitoring project plans, communication plans, risk management plans, and project artifacts from initiation through to post-implementation and closure. The role requires ensuring that project deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with client standards. Daily responsibilities include the development, execution, and maintenance of project plans and communications, facilitating effective communication among all parties involved in the project. This includes organizing meetings, preparing correspondence and recaps, and generating status reports and other project artifacts as per client standards. The IT Project Manager will monitor resource requirements and assigned deliverables based on project specifications, ensuring that resources are allocated appropriately to meet project objectives while managing the budgeted project hours. The role also involves identifying and managing tasks and issues that may impact the scope, budget, risk, and resources of the project, ensuring delivery as planned. The IT Project Manager will provide both written and verbal project status updates upon request, track key project milestones, and adjust project plans as necessary to meet the needs of the work effort. The position requires adherence to project management processes and methodologies to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards, meeting the expectations of the Information Systems and Services Management (ISSM).

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple projects in a strong matrix environment executing Software Development Lifecycle methodologies.
  • Develop and monitor project plans, communication plans, risk management plans, and project artifacts from initiation to post-implementation.
  • Ensure project deliverables are complete on time, on budget, within scope, and in accordance with client standards.
  • Facilitate effective communications between all parties involved in the project, including meetings, correspondence, and status reports.
  • Monitor resource requirements and assigned deliverables based on project specifications.
  • Manage project hours budgeted and ensure resources are assigned to meet project objectives.
  • Identify and manage tasks and issues impacting the scope, budget, risk, and resources of the project.
  • Provide written and verbal project status updates upon request.
  • Track key project milestones and adjust project plans as needed.
  • Ensure all work efforts have appropriate documentation for audit purposes utilizing project methodology standards.

Requirements

  • 5 years of IT project management experience.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and project management tools.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced leadership skills in a team or project environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict management skills.
  • Ability to manage all phases of work effort from inception to completion.
  • Effective strategic thinking skills.
