About the position

The IT Project Manager at Walgreens is responsible for managing highly complex or enterprise-wide IT programs that consist of multiple projects. This role involves developing program strategies, supporting business cases, and ensuring that all projects within the IT project portfolio are delivered on time, within budget, and meet strategic business requirements. The position requires effective communication with IT and senior business leadership, as well as the ability to manage teams and mitigate risks associated with project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multi-million dollar IT programs consisting of multiple, high-profile and complex projects.
  • Ensure integration of large/complex projects and adjust project scope, timing, and budgets as necessary.
  • Communicate program strategy, direction, and changes to IT leadership and senior business leadership.
  • Partner with senior leadership to identify and prioritize opportunities for utilizing IT to achieve enterprise goals.
  • Maintain the efficiency of the project management process including planning, scheduling, and budget and risk assessment.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Manage teams of project managers, project leaders, and support staff as direct or dotted line reports.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT Project Management office.
  • Create a structure/environment for team collaboration and efficiency.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on project status to IT leadership and senior business leadership.
  • Accountable to Steering Committee and Operating Committee for enterprise/strategic goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 4 years of experience in IT business or industry, or High School Diploma/GED and at least 7 years of experience in IT business or industry.
  • PMP Certification or attainment within a year of assuming the position.
  • At least 4 years of IT Project Management experience.
  • Experience developing project plans including charter, scope, management plans, cost estimates, and schedule.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and staff of all levels.
  • Experience managing a project budget of more than $5 million.
  • Knowledge of project management best practices, including waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • Experience identifying and mediating risk.
  • Experience in indirect management of team members.
  • At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
  • At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership, and/or cross-functional team leadership.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in IT/CS.
  • At least 5 years of experience in IT business or industry.
  • Advanced level skills in Microsoft Project and Excel.
  • At least 5 years of IT Project Management experience.
  • Experience leading Enterprise-scale website development and digital teams.
  • Experience leading Customer/Patient engagement teams.
  • SAFe or Scrum Master experience or certification.
  • Agile Portfolio planning and analysis experience.
  • Agile Coaching and transformation experience.
