About the position

The Manager, Project Delivery at EPCOR Water Arizona Inc. is responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of major IT projects within Application Services. This role involves collaborating with IT and business teams to develop project charters, managing project resources, monitoring schedules and costs, and ensuring successful project outcomes. The position requires adherence to established processes and standards, financial oversight, and effective communication with stakeholders to keep them informed of project status.

Responsibilities

  • Identify the necessary budget, resources, and staff required to deliver projects.
  • Define a work breakdown structure that includes key milestones, phases, and deadlines.
  • Anticipate management and technical risks and identify effective mitigations and preventative actions.
  • Identify success criteria for projects considering both business and IT needs.
  • Plan and source project resources, scheduling them in alignment with project timelines and delivery dates.
  • Ensure adherence to processes, procedures, and standards.
  • Collaborate with the Project Management Office (PMO) to optimize the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Ensure that work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure that projects stay on track, adhere to plans, and achieve project goals.
  • Ensure the quality of deliverables produced by project teams and direct reports.
  • Ensure appropriate financial reporting requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure stakeholders, steering committees, and IS leadership are informed of project status.
  • Create capable, committed, and high-performing project teams.
  • Set appropriate performance objectives for each project team member.
  • Hold project team members accountable for achieving results and demonstrating required behaviors.
  • Provide feedback to project team members and identify training plans as required.
  • Identify resourcing needs and work with the Project Management Office and Human Resources to establish project staffing plans.
  • Ensure that the right talent is selected to contribute to project success.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues.
  • Consult with IT and stakeholders to create understanding and resolve issues or concerns.
  • Provide technical insights and expertise to support decision-making.
  • Hire and terminate staff/contractors within plan and company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Engineering/System Technology or related fields such as Engineering, Business, Information System, Physical Sciences.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certifications are considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience within the IT industry, including at least 5+ years of IT-related project management experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing and delivering IT solutions to business clients.
  • Proficiency in navigating the System Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Operational and project management experience with a track record of effective outcomes.
  • Experience in Supply Chain sourcing practices including Request for Proposal processes.
  • Deep understanding of the entire project lifecycle from initiation to closure.
  • Proficiency in methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and familiarity with software development processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with financial accounting principles and understanding the financial impact of project decisions.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure components, including servers, networks, databases, and cloud services.
