About the position

The IT Project Manager position at the Department of Defense's Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and implementation of IT systems that support the Department's mission. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to analyze system requirements, recommend improvements, and ensure the delivery of high-quality IT services. The position requires a strong understanding of IT principles and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the preparation of new system requirements or modifications to existing requirements.
  • Review systems change requests submitted by DoD users and recommend acceptance, revision, or rejection.
  • Review DoD strategic plans and proposals for risk analysis and modification of DCHRMS.
  • Plan and establish long-range IT program goals and objectives.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations concerning overall plans and proposals for component programs and projects.
  • Conduct work groups with representatives of the DoD civilian HR community to design future human resource management information systems.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle of a complex system.
  • Ability to effectively communicate program status, risks, and issues to leadership.
  • Problem-solving skills with customers and clients to provide quality IT products and services.
  • Demonstrated experience in IT-related roles, including volunteer work.
