About the position

The IT Project Manager is responsible for providing expert project management and technical support for the company's desktop computing environment and corporate network. This role involves overseeing IT projects, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders, and delivering exceptional support to users. The position requires both strategic oversight and hands-on troubleshooting to enhance system performance and optimize technology usage across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Define and document project scope, objectives, and outcomes.
  • Set and manage internal and external stakeholder expectations.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, adhering strictly to financial allocations.
  • Estimate resource requirements, acquire and manage resources efficiently.
  • Design work plans tailored to team member expertise and project needs.
  • Provide timely project updates to stakeholders.
  • Create and manage contracts with vendors, ensuring timely delivery of services.
  • Conduct regular assessments of project execution to identify improvements.
  • Stay up to date on industry best practices, techniques, and standards, encouraging team adoption.
  • Track and report on project performance to meet both short-term and long-term goals.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Perform risk management to minimize potential project risks.
  • Use appropriate tools and techniques to streamline project management.
  • Ensure project delivery aligns with scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Manage interdepartmental coordination to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Provide support for the company's desktop computing environment, network, Microsoft Office/Outlook, business applications, and peripheral devices.
  • Quickly restore services by promptly responding to IT issues for all users, including remote users.
  • Support and maintain in-house computer systems, performing diagnosis, upgrades, repairs, and installation of equipment to optimize workstation performance.
  • Solve software, hardware, and system issues through troubleshooting and available resources.
  • Provide on-the-spot problem-solving support for undocumented issues, guiding users through established processes.
  • Maintain contact with users until their issues are fully resolved, ensuring a satisfactory support experience.
  • Perform root cause analysis for recurring problems, developing new resolutions as needed.
  • Regularly check the ticketing system for incoming requests, vet and route them appropriately, manage request classification and tracking to ensure timely resolution.
  • Offer outstanding customer service, maintaining professional relationships with users.
  • Perform software upgrades and handle requests for new software installations as authorized.
  • Ensure all Level 2 and 3 incidents are documented properly in the ticketing system.
  • Maintain detailed records for troubleshooting, technology procedures, and end-user support documentation.
  • Work with technical teams to maintain systems that follow best practices, ensuring data integrity and security.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with desktop, tablet, server OS, and all Microsoft applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of wireless technologies, LAN, and Active Directory.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting desktop/laptop hardware and various IT support processes.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong time and resource management abilities.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving expertise.
  • Capable of creating detailed project plans and schedules.
  • Proven experience managing crises and making swift decisions under pressure.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interaction skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, even under pressure.
  • Strong listening skills to ensure full understanding of user needs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing IT projects and providing desktop support.
  • PMP certification is desirable.
  • Knowledge of popular project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello, Kanban boards).
  • Strong experience with Windows Easy Transfer, My Cloud Remote Access, and Active Directory.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems and support desk processes.
