About the position

We are seeking an experienced IT Senior Project Manager for a contract opportunity in Columbia, SC. The ideal candidate will lead multiple projects, ranging from one to five, in a strong matrix environment while executing Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies. This role involves developing and monitoring comprehensive project plans, communication strategies, risk management plans, and all necessary project artifacts from initiation through to post-implementation and closure. The Senior Project Manager will ensure that all project deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with the client's standards. In this position, you will be responsible for the daily development, execution, and maintenance of project plans and communications. This includes facilitating effective communication among all parties involved in the project, which encompasses meetings, correspondence, status reports, and other project documentation as per the client's standards. You will monitor resource requirements and assigned deliverables based on project specifications, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to meet project objectives while managing the budgeted project hours. Additionally, you will identify and manage tasks and issues that may impact the scope, budget, risk, and resources of the work effort, ensuring that delivery aligns with the planned objectives. The role requires providing both written and verbal project status updates upon request, and you will be responsible for overall coordination, status reporting, and stability of project-oriented work efforts. You will lead the project from inception to final business acceptance and implementation, adhering to project management processes and methodologies to ensure high-quality standards are met throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple IT projects in a matrix environment using SDLC methodologies.
• Develop and monitor project plans, communication plans, and risk management plans.
• Ensure project deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with client standards.
• Facilitate effective communication among all project stakeholders, including meetings and status reports.
• Monitor resource requirements and manage assigned deliverables based on project specifications.
• Identify and manage tasks and issues impacting project scope, budget, and resources.
• Provide written and verbal project status updates as requested.
• Ensure all work efforts have appropriate documentation for audit purposes.
• Track key project milestones and adjust plans as necessary to meet project needs.
• Lead the project from inception to final business acceptance and implementation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Project Management, or related field.
• 5 years of IT experience in a leadership capacity, including 2 years leading concurrent project teams.
• PMP Certification is preferred.
• Strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
• Advanced leadership skills in a team or project environment.
• Excellent problem-solving and conflict management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with MindView, Jira, and Azure Boards.
• Completion of the client's Training Program for Project Management may substitute for one year of experience.
