About the position

The IT Project Manager is responsible for managing the design, development, maintenance, and implementation of project plans for IT solutions. This role ensures adherence to project plans and completion of all phases of project activities according to WSSC Water project management methodologies. The position involves analyzing requirements, defining project scope, identifying milestones, assessing risks, and coordinating project activities while maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze project requirements to define project scope and establish fulfillment criteria.
  • Develop, maintain, revise, and distribute comprehensive project plans for assigned IT projects.
  • Work with IT staff and internal customers to establish quality control checkpoints and acceptance criteria.
  • Build strong relationships with project stakeholders and anticipate issues.
  • Identify and assess risks, creating and implementing risk mitigation plans.
  • Develop and ensure compliance with requirements plans, training plans, and readiness acceptance plans.
  • Develop the project budget and ensure adherence to approved limits.
  • Develop a reporting system to track budget status.
  • Approve project invoices and technical project accomplishments.
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews to document lessons learned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of experience managing all phases of the software development life cycle for IT projects, or a High School diploma and 8+ years of experience.
  • Good knowledge of Agile project management principles and practices.
  • Ability to maintain project team focus and structure.
  • Good knowledge of SDLC methodologies and best practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry standard project management best practices.
  • Ability to organize and lead cross-functional project teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project 2010 or similar software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Nice-to-haves

  • PMP certification
  • Master's degree
  • Experience with MS Project Server 2010 or above.
