About the position

The IT Project Manager will oversee a large Department of Defense (DOD) technology program, ensuring effective project management practices are implemented. This role requires a PMP-certified individual with significant experience in managing complex projects, particularly in STEM fields. The position involves collaboration with technical leads, resource allocation, and maintaining project timelines and budgets to meet client requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain methods to monitor project progress against timelines, budgets, and other project management metrics.
  • Collect information from various communications to document project requirements and status.
  • Work with Technical Leads to establish and maintain project milestones and timelines.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and budgets in alignment with client requirements.
  • Assemble monthly status reports by collecting information from project team members and relevant parties.
  • Track subproject dependencies and schedule commitments.
  • Identify potential issues and risks that may impact completion dates and require corrective action.
  • Schedule and organize client meetings and related events to facilitate project management goals.
  • Identify resource needs, forecast, and allocate resources effectively, managing project scope for on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Track execution of Quality Assurance (QA) activities related to project deliverables/products.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, managers, and clients to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Document key communications with customers and team members for relevant stakeholders.

Requirements

  • B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited college or university
  • Five plus years of post-undergraduate work experience
  • Experience managing complex projects
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage own work and the work of others
  • Ability to work independently as a member or leader of a team
  • Commitment to high standards for product and service quality
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous goals and tasks effectively
  • Familiarity with government and/or professional services contracting methods and industry trends
  • Familiarity with software development life cycle processes and terminology
  • Experience working with technical teams and customers employing Agile development practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience conducting project management activities in a military environment or with civilian federal agencies
  • Current Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • U.S. citizenship is required for this position based on government contract requirements.
