About the position

The Senior Project Manager role in the IT PMO at Beacon Hill Staffing Group is pivotal for the assessment and successful implementation of large-scale IT and Business Change projects. This position demands a strong delivery focus, ensuring that all projects are completed within the defined timelines, budget, and scope. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for establishing and managing the appropriate structures, governance, roles, and communication channels necessary for project success. In this role, the Senior Project Manager will develop and update project plans, budgets, and resource plans essential for project execution and business case submissions. They will perform thorough assessments and due diligence on business cases, including vendor contracts, ensuring that these documents are reviewed by other Project Managers or PMO leadership. The Senior Project Manager will also manage and proactively report on various project elements, including plans, budgets, scope, resources, project decisions, risks, issues, and dependencies. Presenting project metrics to senior management will be a key responsibility, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the project lifecycle. Additionally, the Senior Project Manager will manage relationships and overall engagement with implementation partners, vendors, and all stakeholders involved in the projects. They will provide valuable insights on overall project business value, leveraging their experience to help the team achieve stated objectives, benefits, and return on investment (ROI). The role also involves advising on change management and adoption, as well as assisting in tracking post-implementation benefits as appropriate. The Senior Project Manager will ensure a full handover to operational support and maintenance teams, guaranteeing that projects are completely closed out with all deliverables finalized and approved. They will actively participate in process improvement activities within the Project Management group and provide coaching, mentoring, and personal development to others as required. This role encompasses managing projects of all sizes, including portfolios or programs across all service lines, and may involve the development of business cases when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and implement large-scale IT and Business Change projects.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and within scope.
  • Establish and manage project structures, governance, roles, and communication.
  • Develop and update project plans, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Perform assessments and due diligence on business cases and vendor contracts.
  • Manage and report on project plans, budgets, scope, resources, risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Maintain and present project metrics to senior management.
  • Manage relationships with implementation partners, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Provide input on project business value and advise on change management.
  • Track post-implementation benefits and ensure full handover to operational support.
  • Close out projects with all deliverables completed and approved.
  • Participate in process improvement activities within the Project Management group.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to team members.
  • Manage projects of all sizes across all service lines.

Requirements

  • Prior experience managing and delivering large-scale projects within a large company.
  • Strong delivery and accountability ethos.
  • Excellent relationship management skills across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work with senior stakeholders, clients, vendors, and external auditors.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented approach to project management.
  • Understanding of organizational change as part of IT projects.
  • Experience managing custom developed and off-the-shelf solutions.
  • Ability to manage projects with multiple workstreams.
  • Experience in creating business cases and negotiating vendor contracts.
  • Expertise in risk management and test strategy.
  • Excellent leadership, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to comply with company and Project Management processes and methodologies.
  • Good negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with Agile, waterfall, hybrid methodologies.
  • Experience in CRO/Pharma/Regulatory environments is an advantage.
