About the position

The IT Project Manager will oversee and manage projects within the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry, focusing on financial management, integration across multiple platforms, and vendor management. The role requires a strong background in Agile and Scrum methodologies, with an emphasis on business acumen and experience in similar markets such as manufacturing and retail. The position is primarily hybrid, with a requirement to be on-site at least three days a week in Durham, NC.

Responsibilities

  • Create Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) with the team to develop cost, schedule, resource, quality, and procurement plans.
  • Implement approved actions and workarounds to mitigate project risks.
  • Implement change management plans to ensure successful task completion and integration.
  • Document high-level risks, assumptions, and constraints using historical data and expert judgment.
  • Monitor and update the risk response plan to minimize project risks.
  • Ensure timely updates to portfolio and project management tools (JIRA) following VISTA PMO practices.
  • Execute tasks as defined in the project plan to achieve project goals.
  • Obtain final acceptance of project deliverables from the sponsor or customer.
  • Record detailed customer requirements, constraints, and assumptions to establish project deliverables.
  • Measure project performance to monitor progress and identify variances, performing corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop a communication plan by identifying key project team members and defining roles and responsibilities.
  • Follow IT Governance processes for status reporting, gate reviews, escalations, and change orders.
  • Share successful deliverables and best practices across the PM community.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, representing the organization.
  • Listen intently and maintain high-level reading comprehension skills.
  • Communicate clearly in both speaking and writing.
  • Resolve conflicts and negotiate with others to facilitate reconciliation.
  • Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with others.
  • Utilize critical thinking and analysis skills for project management.
  • Manage time effectively and execute tasks within prescribed periods.
  • Demonstrate excellent planning, organizing skills, and attention to detail.

Requirements

  • 6-10+ years of experience leading high-priority projects.
  • BA or BS Degree in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of Agile project management tools.
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) - Desired.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) - Desired.
  • SAFe Agile Certification - A plus.
  • Experience with Jira Work Management and Capacity Planning.
