About the position

The IT Project Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the Information Resources Management and Technical Services Unit (IRM&TS) at the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). This position is primarily remote, with occasional on-site work required in Washington, DC. The IT Project Manager will be responsible for assisting in strategic planning, project tracking, and the development of essential documents and presentations that facilitate the smooth operation of IT projects. The role requires a collaborative approach to oversee the design, management, delivery, enhancement, and modernization of the current network infrastructure, ensuring that all projects align with the strategic goals of the organization. In this position, the IT Project Manager will assist in managing and tracking the IT strategic plan, ensuring that tasks and projects are prioritized and executed in a timely manner. This includes revising and maintaining a comprehensive roadmap for IT infrastructure projects and upgrades. The IT Project Manager will provide project management support that encompasses budget and cost analysis, project scheduling, and the development of policies, procedures, and work instructions related to IT projects. Additionally, the role involves conducting technical reviews of IT tasks, offering recommendations and advice to CBO employees, and preparing program plans and contract cost analyses. Effective communication is key in this role, as the IT Project Manager will facilitate clear and concise updates on project statuses to various stakeholders, ensuring that everyone is informed and aligned with project goals. This position is ideal for an experienced IT project manager who is adept at navigating complex projects and has a strong understanding of IT and cybersecurity capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management and tracking of the IT strategic plan, tasks, and projects.
  • Revise and maintain a roadmap for IT infrastructure projects and upgrades, ensuring prioritization and timely execution.
  • Provide project management support, including budget/cost analysis, comparison, and project scheduling.
  • Develop and review policies, procedures, and work instructions related to IT projects.
  • Conduct technical reviews of IT tasks, offering recommendations and advice to CBO employees.
  • Prepare program plans, contract cost analyses, and manage contracts, including budget and schedule development.
  • Facilitate clear and concise communication of project statuses to various stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT project management, with a PMP certification strongly preferred.
  • Versatile understanding of Information Technology (IT) and Cybersecurity capabilities.
  • Proficiency in technology integration with physical, virtual, and cloud-based solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey detailed information clearly.
  • Experience with contract analysis, schedule reviews, cost estimations, and Service Portfolio Management.
  • Proficiency in project management tools.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
