About the position

The IT Project Manager will oversee the full life cycle of technology change initiatives within the financial industry. This role involves leading complex consumer card projects, collaborating with business partners to define technical solutions, and ensuring that project requirements are accurately translated into functional designs. The manager will also be responsible for risk management, project scoping, and maintaining adherence to enterprise standards and compliance policies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full life cycle of activities to implement technology change.
  • Lead large complex consumer card initiative projects, overseeing project design, delivery, and budget.
  • Work closely with business partners to define strategies for technical solutions and develop functional designs based on business needs.
  • Coordinate with multiple application teams, testers, and system architects to ensure accurate translation of requirements into technical designs.
  • Communicate solution intent and operating environment, defining functional requirements to support new features.
  • Ensure solutions are fit for purpose by collaborating with stakeholders, system architects, and vendors.
  • Clarify solution architecture for development teams and provide options to resolve impediments.
  • Drive defect resolution to ensure code functions as designed.
  • Orchestrate project scoping and estimates for new technologies and initiatives.
  • Educate team members on technology practices and best practices for innovative solutions.
  • Produce detailed project plans and frequent status updates.
  • Manage risk and ensure appropriate escalations occur.
  • Communicate issues or impediments to senior management concisely and quickly.
  • Ensure adherence to enterprise standards, compliance, and policies.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to orchestrate multiple project teams to meet deadlines.
  • 10+ years in the technology industry.
  • 5 years of related project management experience.
  • Assertive individual capable of executing with limited direction.
  • Ability to identify and engage key stakeholders to facilitate progress and resolution.
  • Excellent time management skills to manage multiple unrelated events simultaneously.
  • Capability to distill complex information into a strategic plan of execution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including with senior management.
  • Team player comfortable leading cross-functional teams across business, operations, and technology.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver under pressure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft products.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, advanced skills with Excel and MS Project.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
