The IT Project Manager position at the University of Houston is a critical role within the Department of Information Technology (IT). This position is responsible for facilitating the implementation of various IT projects by utilizing established project management methods and procedures. The IT Project Manager will work closely with IT management and a diverse range of stakeholders, including component universities and institutes within the University of Houston System, as well as various university departments, colleges, and divisions. The primary goal is to support the overarching IT objectives of the university through effective project portfolio analysis and resource allocation. In this role, the IT Project Manager will develop comprehensive IT project plans that include project charters, statements of work, business case descriptions, and other essential project planning documents. The individual will establish and direct project management plans, activities, tasks, and coordinate project team members to ensure successful project execution. The IT Project Manager will provide overall direction and guidance to assigned project team members, ensuring that all project activities align with the university's IT goals. Additionally, the IT Project Manager will be responsible for preparing various reports, including activity, budget, and status updates, to keep stakeholders informed of project progress. The role also involves participating in and assisting other IT project management staff with their project activities. As a representative of the university, the IT Project Manager may engage with external agencies and groups as requested by appropriate management. Other job-related duties may be assigned as necessary, contributing to the dynamic and collaborative environment of the IT department.
