About the position

Mastech is a growing company dedicated to innovation and teamwork, currently seeking an IT Project Manager for our client in the IT Services domain. The client is looking for someone to start immediately. The IT Project Manager will be responsible for effectively managing and executing one or more projects or tracks within a program, contributing to the ongoing improvement of the Claims Subportfolio's project management capability through the development and improvement of processes, and sharing best practices across the PM team. The role involves defining, developing, and executing integrated project plans, establishing team structures, and leading all phases of projects from concept through deployment. This includes conducting needs assessments, determining system requirements, estimating total cost of ownership, planning, scoping, scheduling, budgeting, development, testing, and implementation. The IT Project Manager will also conduct business impact and cost/benefit analysis evaluations, effectively communicate project status, recommend actions, and determine priorities with business and IT stakeholders. Additionally, the IT Project Manager will establish appropriate project control processes, standards, and procedures, track internal and external vendor deliverables to ensure they meet committed scope, schedule, and budget. The role requires positively influencing project stakeholders, performing at both strategic and tactical levels, and providing communications and guidance to senior executives and sponsors regarding their roles in ensuring the success of all assigned projects. Developing key working relationships with team members from regional business clients and the Claims group is also essential, as is effectively taking on the leadership role of assigned projects.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage and execute one or more projects or tracks within a program.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the Claims Subportfolio's project management capability through the development and improvement of processes and sharing of best practices across the PM team.
  • Define, develop and execute integrated project plans, including team structure and roles & responsibilities.
  • Lead all phases of projects from concept through deployment, including needs assessment, system requirements determination, TCO estimates, planning, scoping, scheduling, budgeting, development, testing, and implementation.
  • Conduct business impact and cost/benefit analysis evaluations and recommend appropriate courses of action for assigned projects.
  • Effectively communicate project status, recommend actions, and determine priorities with business and IT stakeholders.
  • Establish appropriate project control processes, standards, and procedures.
  • Track internal and external vendor deliverables to ensure they meet committed scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Positively influence project stakeholders and provide communications and guidance to senior executives and sponsors regarding their roles in ensuring project success.
  • Facilitate communications and interactions between functional groups, team members, strategic partners, and vendors.
  • Develop key working relationships with team members from regional business clients and the Claims group.
  • Effectively take on the leadership role of assigned projects.

Requirements

  • A BA/BS in any field or 4 years of equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 8 years of Project Management experience.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in leading IT development and implementation of highly complex, large scale, multi-location, multi-year corporate IT initiatives.
  • 6 - 8 years of experience in creating and maintaining integrated business and IT project plans with key milestones, dependencies, critical paths, and resource loading.
  • Excellent MS Project skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated success working in a matrix team environment for a large organization.
  • Self-motivated with independent work capability.
  • Results-oriented with a demonstrated ability to execute in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be flexible and have the ability to work in a complex and constantly changing environment.
