About the position

The IT Project Manager at TEKsystems is a pivotal role that requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in managing large-scale initiatives, particularly within the Financial Services or Banking sectors. This position is designed for an individual who can operate with minimal guidance while supporting the development team and ensuring that the delivery process remains consistent and efficient. The Project Manager will be responsible for clearing organizational roadblocks and facilitating effective team decision-making, thereby promoting an environment conducive to collaboration and productivity. In this role, the Project Manager will maintain a comprehensive understanding of the company's strategic business plans and develop in-depth knowledge of both business unit and IT plans, including roadmaps. They will work closely with the Product Owner and Delivery Team resource managers to guide and support the efforts of the delivery team, ensuring that the team's actions align with sprint goals and that they understand the processes governing delivery initiatives such as Scrum, Kanban, and DLC. The Project Manager will also be tasked with identifying, analyzing, and managing risks that could impact the team's productivity and stability. They will facilitate all team ceremonies, including Planning, Refinement, Reviews, and Retrospectives, and will be responsible for communicating the health of the team and its delivery progress using appropriate metrics and reporting methods. This role requires a genuine passion for Agile methodologies and the ability to motivate individuals, foster teamwork, and build strong team dynamics. Additionally, the Project Manager will need to demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of the company's strategic business plans.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of business unit and IT plans (roadmaps).
  • Understand the connection between team initiatives and the larger, strategic picture.
  • Work with the Product Owner or Delivery Team resource managers to guide and support the efforts of the Delivery team.
  • Facilitate all team ceremonies (Planning, Refinement, Reviews, Retrospectives, etc.).
  • Identify, analyze and effectively manage risks that could impact the team's productivity and stability.
  • Work across the team and the organization to remove impediments to the team's progress, escalating as needed.
  • Ensure that the team's actions are always aligned with the sprint goals.
  • Ensure the team understands processes governing delivery initiatives (Scrum, Kanban, DLC).
  • Conduct appropriate and timely cross-team collaboration to ensure visibility and alignment of related initiatives.
  • Communicate a variety of information about the team broadly and transparently including the health of the team and the team's delivery progress using appropriate metrics and reporting methods.
  • Track the team's velocity and assist the team in monitoring trends in velocity and react accordingly to changes.
  • Work with the Product Owner and Delivery Team to establish and manage release plans.
  • Owner of the agile framework leveraged by the teams.

Requirements

  • Experience in Financial Services or Banking.
  • Experience with SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps.
  • PMP Certification (Nice to have).
  • Experience working with C-suite, stakeholders, third parties, and budget/forecasting.
  • PMO Experience.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Scrum Master and/or Project Manager for multiple teams in an iterative delivery model.
  • Knowledge and experience with organizational change management (OCM) is a plus.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills.
  • Ability to think critically and conduct research into a wide range of computing issues as required.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
