About the position

The IT Project Manager at NetApp is a strategic role focused on managing technology infrastructure initiatives using both Agile and waterfall methodologies. This position requires a proactive approach to orchestrating project outcomes, ensuring effective delivery of on-premise and cloud-based projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for translating functional requirements into appropriate delivery methodologies, managing project execution, and driving continuous improvement within teams.

Responsibilities

  • Translate functional requirements into the right delivery methodology (waterfall vs Agile) and break the work into milestones and execution plans.
  • Produce and manage Gantt charts for waterfall projects.
  • Facilitate daily stand-ups, iteration planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives for Agile projects.
  • Manage infrastructure development planning and execution, with significant use of Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Guide the team in time estimation practices and facilitate work estimates.
  • Drive team iteration execution and communicate with management and stakeholders.
  • Manage uncontrolled injection of work and evaluate changes intentionally.
  • Resolve project conflicts, challenges, and dynamic business requirements.
  • Conduct postmortem and root cause analysis to improve execution practices.
  • Define and implement improvement stories to increase program velocity and quality.
  • Identify and eliminate velocity impediments to facilitate flow.
  • Maintain project data in management software (e.g., JIRA, MS Project).
  • Present high-level project readouts for management.
  • Support the product owner with intra-team dynamics regarding priorities and scope.
  • Manage other special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of infrastructure project management experience and 2 years leading sprints.
  • Deep understanding of iterative and incremental development.
  • Demonstrable expertise in agile methodologies and frameworks like Scrum and Kanban.
  • Strong knowledge of waterfall project management methodologies and tools (PMO or Prince II certification a plus).
  • Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile procedures (certified Scrum Master a plus).
  • Solid experience working with architecture and engineering teams to assess and size stories/epics.
  • Excellent communication skills in all verbal and written mediums.
