About the position

The IT Project Senior Manager will lead and manage multiple projects within the Revenue Cycle and clinical environments, ensuring effective communication, tracking, and implementation of project objectives. This role requires a strong focus on agile project management practices to meet the needs of clinicians and patients while maximizing value and satisfaction. The manager will serve as the primary contact for project stakeholders and will oversee all aspects of project development from conception to implementation, ensuring adherence to quality standards and effective integration of vendor tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide functional leadership to leaders, business analysts, and other staff on multiple projects.
  • Make recommendations to leadership on work redesign efforts for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead teams, committees, and special projects as assigned.
  • Coach and counsel project team members for success.
  • Assist in planning, design, development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of business systems to support Revenue Cycle operations.
  • Perform analysis of department and end-user business needs and document requirements.
  • Participate in activities with interrelated teams including project management, testing, support, training, and technical teams.
  • Coordinate the preparation, evaluation, and response for RFP or RFI processes.
  • Manage tracking tools and databases as needed.
  • Conduct stakeholder analysis and work with sponsors to obtain project authorization.
  • Develop detailed work plans, schedules, estimates, resource plans, and status reports.
  • Set, communicate, and manage project expectations with team members and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Public Administration, Business Administration, Engineering, Information Technology, or Health Sciences.
  • Eight or more years of progressive management or project management experience.
  • Familiarity with the primary EMR vendor Epic systems and diverse application requirements for Michigan Medicine.
  • Proven experience in managing complex enterprise projects and operations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in creating and maintaining project deliverables such as scope, status reports, and risk management plans.
  • Proficiency with desktop management software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, and collaboration tools like SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of project management methodology and continuous process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
