About the position

Austin Energy is seeking a highly skilled IT QA Test Engineer Senior to join the Service Validation & Testing (SVT) team. This role involves extensive experience in manual testing, creating and executing test plans, and documenting test scripts for both new and existing enterprise applications. The position requires strong problem-solving skills in coding and testing, as well as the ability to work in a deadline-focused environment while managing multiple projects and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Review functional and non-functional requirements with project team members.
• Review use cases with the BSA to understand system and user actions.
• Review specifications documents with BSAs, SMEs, and developers as needed.
• Analyze project-related documentation to create test plans.
• Acquire working knowledge of the application to plan for Test Strategy.
• Create and present test plans to project team members for feedback.
• Coordinate with project team to validate test environment readiness.
• Identify business scenarios and assist testers in writing test scripts.
• Lead functional and UAT testing phases.
• Conduct weekly status meetings and provide metrics to the project team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience (2 years minimum).
• Extensive experience in manual testing and test management.
• Strong knowledge of programming languages and object-oriented design.
• Ability to create and execute test plans and document variances.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience using Java, C++, and Visual Basic.
• Experience with automation and performance tools for continuous delivery.
• Experience leading test status meetings and conducting defect triage meetings.
• Experience in System Architecture and Web technologies.
