About the position

Austin Energy is seeking a highly skilled IT QA Test Engineer Senior to join the Service Validation & Testing (SVT) team. This role involves extensive experience as a Test Lead within the Business Operations Liaison Team (BOLT), focusing on quality assurance for both new and existing enterprise applications. The position requires a solid background in manual testing, test plan creation, and execution, as well as the ability to document variances and collaborate with various stakeholders in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review functional and non-functional requirements with project team members.
  • Review use cases with the BSA to understand system and user actions.
  • Review specifications documents with BSAs, SMEs, and developers as needed.
  • Analyze project-related documentation to create the test plan.
  • Acquire working knowledge of the application to plan for Test Strategy.
  • Create the test plan using the Test Plan Template or Test Planning Memo.
  • Schedule a review meeting with project team members to present the completed test plan.
  • Update the test plan based on input from the review meeting.
  • Coordinate with project team and validate test environment readiness.
  • Identify business scenarios and end-to-end tests for complete scope coverage.
  • Check all testing documents for completion.
  • Lead the functional and UAT testing phases.
  • Conduct weekly status meetings and provide metrics to the project team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field plus two years of experience (or equivalent experience).
  • Extensive experience in manual testing and creating test plans.
  • Strong knowledge of programming languages and object-oriented design.
  • Ability to solve problems in coding and testing.
  • Experience leading functional and UAT testing phases.

Nice-to-haves

  • Extensive experience using Java, C++, and Visual Basic.
  • Experience with Software testing and Test Management tools.
  • Experience working with automation and performance tools for continuous delivery.
  • Experience in System Architecture and Web technologies.
  • Experience supporting the business of an Electric Utility or Water Utility.
