About the position

The IT Quality Assurance Specialist at the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) is responsible for providing day-to-day support for the maintenance, enhancement, and development of various business systems. This role involves coordinating with multiple sections within the organization to implement new or improved systems that address business needs. The specialist will apply software testing methodologies, manage testing schedules, and ensure quality assurance processes are documented and followed, contributing to the overall goal of delivering safe and efficient transportation services.

Responsibilities

  • Apply and implement software testing methodologies, test techniques, and best practices to manual and automated testing.
  • Ensure timely delivery of testing milestones by building and maintaining a testing schedule and tracking all planned/scheduled testing activities per project.
  • Track and prepare reports of testing activities such as testing results, test case coverage, required resources, defects, testing traceability, test execution, and metrics.
  • Develop and create testing artifacts and deliverables for test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, test cases, test procedures, test scripts, and test reports.
  • Document and implement quality assurance processes and standards.
  • Provide testing and technical documentation oversight for IT projects.
  • Perform bug fix verifications and validations.
  • Participate in developing, distributing, and coordinating in-depth end-user reviews for modified and new systems or applications.
  • Provide quality assurance strategies to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established industry standards, government regulations, and customer requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field with coursework in systems analysis and programming.
  • Two years of experience in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining application systems using third generation or other accepted programming languages.
  • One year of experience in designing and developing test plans and test cases from requirements and logging defects using JIRA or a comparable application.

  • Experience working in an Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid environment.
