About the position

The IT Research Computing Analyst at NC State University is responsible for delivering IT service solutions to agricultural research stations across North Carolina. This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing technology systems, as well as collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure a stable and scalable technology infrastructure. The Analyst will also lead project planning and implementation activities, contribute to technical strategy, and provide operational support to enhance customer service and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair technology systems in a predefined support region.
  • Define requirements and research available technical solutions.
  • Develop supporting documentation and lead communication with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with various units to provide stable technology infrastructure.
  • Research and recommend agricultural technology solutions.
  • Lead project planning and implementation activities for technical solutions.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports and proposals.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on technology integration strategies.
  • Create working relationships with stakeholders and vendors.
  • Track and report progress against project milestones and budget guidelines.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of IT research support.
  • Install and maintain RF radio hardware and fiber optic cabling.
  • Troubleshoot high complexity issues and assist with lower complexity issues.
  • Document standard operating procedures for troubleshooting incidents.
  • Maintain technical inventory and manage equipment RMAs with vendors.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Computer Information Technology or related field and two years of relevant experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of IP Networking, VPN, firewall, L2 switching, and L3 routing principles.
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory and SCCM support.
  • Knowledge of IT Cybersecurity best practices and Information Security Policies.
  • Ability to install structured cabling and network devices.
  • Project management skills and technology procurement experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of Google Applications.
  • Experience with ITSM Incident Management System (ServiceNow preferred).
  • Certifications such as ITIL, A+, OSX Support Essentials, Linux, Dell, Microsoft Certified Professional, CCNA, or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of BGP, OSPF Routing, and virtualization experience (VMWare, Citrix).
  • Experience with network storage systems support and GIS Planning and Design.

Benefits

  • Commensurate salary based on experience ($65,000 - $70,000).
  • Full-time position with a standard work schedule of Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM.
