About the position

The Revenue Cycle Applications Analyst III at Erlanger Health System plays a crucial role in the management and optimization of revenue cycle applications. Reporting directly to the Patient Access and Revenue Cycle Manager, this position is responsible for collaborating with clinical, revenue, and ambulatory management to identify, analyze, prioritize, and resolve system needs. The analyst will utilize use cases, workflows, and metrics to configure, maintain, and monitor systems, while also providing recommendations for application modifications, enhancements, or process changes as necessary. This role encompasses various aspects of the revenue cycle, including Registration, Revenue Integrity, Billing, Scheduling, Coding, and Charge Master operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service skills and demonstrate effective written and verbal communication abilities. The Revenue Cycle Applications Analyst III is expected to work independently, relying on their experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks efficiently. The position may require variable days and hours of work, reflecting the dynamic nature of the healthcare environment. In terms of educational background, a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or Information Management is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates should have at least five years of experience in a healthcare-related setting, with a solid understanding of Patient Access, Revenue Cycle, and Business systems. Familiarity with information system technology and database applications is essential for success in this role. Additionally, the analyst must complete education and pass certification in assigned EPIC application modules within 120 days of completing their education, with preferred candidates holding EPIC certification in relevant modules. The Revenue Cycle Applications Analyst III is expected to demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills necessary to support the systems and applications assigned to them. This includes developing functional specifications, operational process flows, and other documentation for approved system enhancements or modifications. The analyst will also produce and provide analysis through reports, dashboards, and analytic tools to management, developing metrics and KPIs to monitor performance and adherence to service level agreements (SLAs). The role requires a proactive approach to problem resolution, effective time management, and the ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously while maintaining high work standards and integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Follow up on errors to determine root causes and recommend solutions.
  • Support multiple concurrent projects and educate other team members on system applications.
  • Demonstrate initiative, creativity, and flexibility in problem resolution.
  • Manage work time effectively while handling multiple assignments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or Information Management, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience in a healthcare-related setting with knowledge of Patient Access, Revenue Cycle, and Business systems.
  • Understanding of information system technology and database applications.
  • Experience with MS SQL and report writing.
  • Ability to develop functional specifications and operational process flows.
