About the position

The IT Security Analyst - Identity and Access Management position at NiSource is a full-time, permanent role that operates in a hybrid work environment, requiring two days on location. This role is situated within the Cyber Security department, which is dedicated to ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the company's assets. The department employs a variety of technologies to protect against evolving cybersecurity threats and is responsible for incident response, cybersecurity education, and policy management regarding data permissions and access security. As an Identity and Access Management (IAM) analyst, the individual will play a crucial role in managing and securing user identities and access permissions. The analyst will ensure that IAM processes align with the organization's security policies and regulatory requirements. This position demands a proactive approach to monitoring, analyzing, and improving IAM systems, as well as collaboration with various teams to support security initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of IAM principles, tools, and best practices, complemented by strong analytical and communication skills. The responsibilities of the IT Security Analyst include resolving issues related to the IAM solution, identifying gaps for improvement, collaborating with project managers and service providers, facilitating audits, ensuring compliance with defined policies, and participating in the Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT). This role is essential for maintaining the security posture of NiSource and supporting the overall mission of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve issues related to the IAM solution in a timely manner.
  • Identify gaps and areas for improvement within the existing IAM solution and provide recommendations for enhancements.
  • Work closely with NiSource project managers and Service Provider personnel to help track and monitor projects that meet business needs and adhere to agreed-upon service levels (e.g., budget, schedule, quality).
  • Facilitate audits of processes related to Security Services.
  • Assist in ensuring the Service Providers are adhering to NiSource's defined policies, procedures and standards.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate the IAM solution with existing systems and applications.
  • Participate in coordination of efforts of the Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT).

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of IAM principles, technologies, and best practices, including experience with role-based access control (RBAC) and privileged access management (PAM).
  • Knowledge of IT security tools and components, trends and best practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python.
  • Experience with LDAP, SAML, OAuth, and other identity-related protocols.
  • Knowledge in invoking REST/SOAP web services using tools such as Postman.
  • Knowledge of Java/J2EE and SQL.
