About the position
The IT Security Analyst position is a critical role within the Security Operations Team, focusing on maintaining the security and integrity of the State of Michigan's data. This position involves reviewing and remediating cyber incidents and vulnerabilities, ensuring that security procedures are effective, and administering various security systems and tools. The role requires a strong background in networking security and system administration, with a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Review and remediate cyber incidents and vulnerabilities found by IT level analysts.
- Validate security procedures to ensure they effectively identify and classify cyber events.
- Investigate security operations tool issues promptly and thoroughly.
- Identify, review, and validate specifications and implementation of security hardware and software.
- Implement corrective actions as needed for security issues.
- Administer proxy servers and information systems.
- Administer endpoint detection and response servers and agents.
- Administer intrusion protection and intrusion detection systems.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in IT Security.
- Experience with Linux, Windows, and Unix operating systems.
- Experience working with enterprise packet capture tools.
- Experience in daily administration, configuring, deploying, and architecting security network tools and hardware.
- Configuration and administration of network taps.
- Engineering rules and employing best practices in security.
- Integrations with threat intelligence feeds.
- Knowledge of subnetting.
