About the position

The IT Security Analyst at the Muscogee Nation is responsible for planning and implementing IT system defenses against breaches and vulnerabilities. This role focuses on ensuring data confidentiality, integrity, and availability through audits, security policy administration, and incident response. The analyst will work closely with the IT department to secure information systems and assist in strategic security planning to align with business goals.

Responsibilities

• Perform risk assessments to identify control strengths and weaknesses, assess the effectiveness of existing controls, and recommend remedial actions.
• Respond to security requests, problem reports, questions, and incident reports; recommend or take corrective action and follow up to ensure threats and vulnerabilities are addressed.
• Assist in defining, implementing, maintaining, and monitoring information security requirements for applications, systems, and technology resources.
• Support strategic security planning to achieve business goals by recommending initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of security technologies.
• Help develop, implement, maintain, and enforce policies, procedures, and plans for system security administration and user access based on best practices.
• Assist with audits of compliance with established security policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with the IT department on technology development to secure information, computer, network, and processing systems.
• Assist in designing and implementing disaster recovery and business continuity plans, procedures, and enhancements.
• Design security policy education, training, and awareness activities; monitor compliance with security policy and applicable law; coordinate investigation and reporting of security incidents.
• Conduct application security assessments and write specifications for business requirements to design IT systems that meet these requirements.

Requirements

• Associates Degree and three years of experience in Information Technology.
• In-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN communications, network hardware, and software.
• Ability to implement organizational processes and procedures.
• Ability to relate system design and configuration to security functions.
• Knowledge of security standards, processes, policies, security tools, and audit procedures.
• Self-disciplined, self-starter, and professional who can bring projects to closure with minimum direction.

Nice-to-haves

• 2 years of job-related experience in Customer Service and/or Help Desk, Applications Support.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Finance.
• Prior experience in information security, including planning and executing security policies.
• Prior experience or working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley.
