About the position

The IT Security Analyst position at the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is focused on supporting the agency's Information Security mission. The role involves implementing strategic approaches, plans, and procedures to ensure compliance with security policies and standards. The analyst will primarily work with procurement teams to analyze security requirements and provide guidance on risk management, business continuity, and security incident management.

Responsibilities

• Implement strategic approaches and plans for information security.
• Ensure compliance with Commonwealth of Virginia Information Security Policies and Standards.
• Conduct security analysis for procurement teams.
• Manage identity and access management processes.
• Review system and services acquisition for security compliance.
• Perform IT risk management and business continuity planning.
• Conduct security awareness education and training.
• Manage security vulnerabilities and incidents.
• Document processes and create executive summaries.
• Research and provide guidance on security policy alignment.
• Collaborate with business areas and procurement analysts to understand needs and provide security consultation.
• Partner with architects and technical teams to develop roadmaps supporting agency KPIs.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in IT security or related field.
• Strong understanding of information security policies and standards.
• Experience with identity and access management.
• Knowledge of IT risk management and business continuity planning.
• Ability to document processes and create business-focused documentation.
• Experience in security vulnerability management and incident response.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with security compliance and control evaluation.
• Familiarity with procurement processes in IT.
• Knowledge of security awareness training programs.
