About the position

The IT Security Engineer position at Indiana State University involves providing technical support and analysis as a security expert, representing the university's security needs to various stakeholders. The role requires managing and monitoring intrusion detection/prevention systems and firewalls, conducting vulnerability and risk analyses, and assisting in diagnosing network and application issues with security implications. The position is full-time, with a work schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm ET.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor intrusion detection/prevention systems and hardware/software firewalls.
  • Conduct proactive and reactive vulnerability and risk analyses of existing systems.
  • Install, update, and monitor enterprise endpoint protection systems.
  • Assist in the review of firewall change requests and implement changes post-approval.
  • Diagnose and resolve network and application issues that may have security implications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a technical field and 3 years' experience in information security technologies, or
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 1 year of experience in information security technologies, or
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 4 years' experience in a system administrator role with IT security responsibilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Engineering, or Information Technology.
  • 3 years' experience with day-to-day administration of enterprise class security systems.
  • A+ Certification.
  • CISSP.
  • CompTIA Security +.
