About the position

The Senior Analyst, IT Network & Telecommunication works with a team who's responsible for overseeing system installations, as well as monitoring and maintaining the organisation's servers and evaluating new server hardware and software.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the planning, design, configuration and deployment of company LANs, WANs, Voice and wireless networks, including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, UPSs, PDUs and other hardware to ensure that the network meets company performance and availability requirements
  • Daily operational maintenance of existing network infrastructure. (SDWAN, ZScaler, Infoblox, ISE, Wireless, Solarwinds, etc.)
  • Design, plan and troubleshoot network related problems in an enterprise environment with expertise in Cisco Routers, Switches, NGFW, Intrusion Prevention (IPS) and web filtering
  • Liaise with vendors for new hardware and software acquisitions and keep appropriate maintenance agreements current and effective
  • Work with global and regional teams to deliver IT or business projects
  • Provide expert advice to other initiatives relying on network & infrastructure services
  • Play a key role in maturing the network systems in the areas of routing, switching, security, collaboration, wireless, physical data center standards and monitoring systems
  • Collaborate and coordinate daily with other IT teams to deliver on new projects
  • Perform system monitoring and analysis, performance tuning, troubleshooting and escalating issues, including proactive problem resolution and complex problem analysis as necessary, to maintain system performance to meet user demand
  • Reduce operational risk and improve availability of the overall infrastructure by ensuring access, monitoring, control, evaluation and documentation practices are maintained and adhered to
  • Evaluate new system hardware and solutions and monitor the market for emerging technology
  • Collect and analyse operational data (especially incident and change records) to identify emerging trends and log problem records to assist with problem resolution and increased network availability
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, procedures, and policies
  • Monitor network security measures to protect data, systems, and network integrity, collaborating with cybersecurity for Incident Response and cybersecurity investigation

Requirements

  • College diploma in the field of Computer Science or equivalent
  • Minimum 7 years of equivalent work experience in a network position
  • CCNP is preferred or equal experience
  • Deep experience with Routing & Switching
  • Strong working knowledge of network/internet Protocols/Services such as TCP/IP stack, Ethernet, BGP, OSPF EIGRP, QOS, DHCP, IPAM
  • Expertise with Cisco ISR routers, Cat 9xxx, 3850's, 4500's, Nexus 9k, NGFW
  • Familiarity with operation, management and fault diagnosis of real time transaction processing systems
  • Knowledge of WIFI, Dot1x, Web proxy, and other network security infrastructure/monitoring tools
  • SDWAN expertise is an asset
  • Understanding of firewall principles, rules, and traffic flow. Firewall experience is an asset
  • Proven experience in leading small to large technical projects with demonstrated oral and written ability to communicate with team members
  • Must know when to ask for assistance, and when to help collaboratively
  • Must be approachable, teachable, and a team player with a strong desire to continue learning and expanding their experience in a highly evolving environment
  • Experience with network asset management, including maintenance of network components, inventory and related documentation
  • Superior troubleshooting skills
  • Willingness to work beyond core business hours / on call, if necessary to minimize business interruption during planned or unplanned network/system modifications
  • Excellent time-management to handle a heavy workload at various time of the year and project lifecycle
  • Available for travel as required
  • Ability to get to and travel easily between our different sites
  • Be part of on-call 24/7 support rotation
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
