About the position

As the IT Senior Manager - Innovation/Product Engineering at Southern California Edison (SCE), you will lead a team responsible for developing and implementing innovative technological solutions that align with the company's strategy and business needs. This role involves managing product development using agile methodologies, establishing engineering standards, collaborating with multi-functional teams, and continuously researching new technologies to drive innovation and sustainable change.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the IT Innovation/Product Engineering Team to develop, implement, and maintain advanced technology solutions.
  • Manage a product development engineering team using agile methods to deliver Proof of Concepts (POC) to Minimal Viable Product (MVP) launch.
  • Establish engineering standards and partner with architecture to identify and catalogue technology patterns for reuse.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to design product solutions that meet business criteria cost-effectively.
  • Research new technologies continuously to drive innovation and sustainable change.
  • Communicate architectural decisions, plans, goals, and strategies to IT and business leaders.
  • Assign architecture resources and direct the architectural work of key initiatives.
  • Collaborate with product team members to design secure, reliable, scalable software solutions.
  • Coordinate architecture resources to establish reference architectures and design patterns.
  • Lead team members in the development of portfolio architectures and enterprise application tools.
  • Serve as an escalation point for difficult architecture and trade-off analysis situations.
  • Manage resource capacity, demand, and architecture metrics for staffing decisions.
  • Work with internal stakeholders, vendors, and the open-source community to identify needed software improvements.
  • Lead learning activities around modern architecture and design practices.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of experience supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management.
  • Experience in information technology architecture.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of experience in IT management, product management, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of experience in IT software development in architecture and/or engineering role.
  • One or more years of experience with Artificial Intelligence and/or Generative AI technologies.
  • Experience consulting clients and leading strategic conversations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to address complex business issues.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
