About the position

The position is responsible for the overall coordination, status reporting, and stability of project-oriented work efforts. The role involves managing a moderate number of work efforts simultaneously, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and adhere to high-quality standards. The individual will monitor project plans, assignments, and work efforts daily, ensuring appropriate resource allocation and addressing any functional, quality, or timeline issues. The position requires leading projects from inception to final business acceptance and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and monitor project plans, risk management plans, and project documentation from scope to post-implementation.
  • Ensure project documentation and deliverables are complete, on budget, within scope, and in accordance with standards.
  • Identify items that impact the scope, budget, risk, and resources of the work effort.
  • Monitor resource requirements based on project specifications.
  • Ensure resources are assigned to meet project objectives while managing project hours budgeted.
  • Develop, execute, and maintain project communications.
  • Facilitate effective communications between all parties involved in the project and/or work efforts.
  • Identify the impact of issues arising from the work efforts and/or resource requirements.
  • Manage project issues throughout the project life cycle.
  • Communicate the implications of changes to the project scope with senior management and other appropriate parties.
  • Ensure all work efforts have appropriate documentation for audit purposes utilizing project methodology standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years job-related work experience or Associate's degree with 2 years job-related work experience).
  • 5 years IT experience in a leadership capacity, including 2 years leading two or more concurrent project teams.
  • Completion of the BCBSSC Training Program for Project Management may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused style.
  • Advanced leadership skills in a team or project environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict management/resolution skills.
  • Advanced analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies, information systems, and business processes.
  • Advanced competency in management of resources to meet goals and multiple projects.
  • Strong ability to lead multiple multidiscipline, high-performance work teams throughout the project life cycle.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum of 1 year leading I/S audits.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience leading audits in the Insurance industry with knowledge of Commercial compliance controls.
  • 10+ years leading multiple IT concurrent projects.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
