About the position

The Senior Software Engineer, Data Conversion will play a crucial role in migrating UMD computing systems to a modern cloud-based solution, specifically focusing on data migration to the Workday platform as part of the Workday Student implementation. This hands-on position involves agile, team-based development, providing leadership, mentoring, and coaching to junior engineers, and participating in defining software engineering processes and methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Migrate data from legacy systems to the Workday platform.
  • Produce and review documentation and requirements.
  • Lead code reviews and design meetings.
  • Participate in defining software engineering processes and methodologies.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to less experienced engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 5-7 years of professional experience in IT infrastructure operations, maintenance, and administration.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to lead presentations with small to medium-sized groups.
  • Ability to organize and provide direction to junior staff members.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
  • Ability to effectively manage workload and deliver assignments on time.
  • Skilled in the use of office productivity software such as Office 365 or Google Workspaces.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ETL platforms like Informatica/Fabric/Datastage.
  • Experience with SQL and Python.
  • Experience using AWS for data applications (e.g., S3, Redshift).
  • Experience with Oracle.
  • Ability to conduct research and data analysis.
