The IT Service Desk Technician position is a critical role within our organization, functioning primarily as a Tier I / Tier II IT Support specialist. This position is designed for individuals who possess excellent customer service skills and are adept at providing support through various channels, including phone and chat. Given the remote nature of the work, experience in phone and chat support is highly advantageous. The ideal candidate will have a strong proficiency in both Windows and MacOS operating systems, with a particular emphasis on MacOS experience, which is a must for this role. Familiarity with Linux is considered a plus, as it can enhance the technician's ability to support a diverse range of systems and applications. In addition to technical skills, candidates should have experience in a scientific or academic setting, although this is not a strict requirement. Basic scripting skills are also beneficial, particularly in languages such as PowerShell, bash/zsh, or Python, as these skills can aid in automating tasks and improving efficiency in support operations. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to communicate effectively with users to resolve their technical issues in a timely manner.
