About the position

SpaceX is seeking an experienced IT Services Technician who possesses a strong background in IT service delivery, particularly in environments that cater to high-caliber engineers and critical operations such as launch and mission operations, as well as 24x7 manufacturing operations. This role is integral to the IT team, which is responsible for the complete lifecycle of IT services for SpaceX staff. This includes onboarding and setup, upgrades, installations, troubleshooting, repairs, and replacements of hardware and software solutions, as well as asset recovery and protection. The IT Services Technician will also have architectural responsibilities in areas such as end-user computer infrastructure, printing, and conference room technologies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills in IT, coupled with excellent customer service and organizational abilities. They should thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment, showcasing flexibility and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The role requires a self-starter with motivation, leadership qualities, and ingenuity to excel in various tasks. The technician will be expected to provide tiered support to SpaceX employees, manage on-site inventory, procure and deploy hardware, troubleshoot issues, and develop new workflows in collaboration with IT engineering groups and other resources. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for writing instructional documentation and simplifying complex technical concepts for non-technical personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1st, 2nd, and 3rd tier support to SpaceX employees.
  • Manage on-site inventory and the total lifecycle of IT assets.
  • Procure, configure, and deploy computer hardware and mobile cellular devices.
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware issues, in person and remotely.
  • Configure and troubleshoot desktop, label, and large multifunction printers.
  • Provide network support and troubleshooting, including device connectivity and VLAN configuration.
  • Configure non-traditional network attached devices and interface with SpaceX infrastructure.
  • Develop new workflows and solutions in collaboration with IT engineering groups and other resources.
  • Write instructional documentation and convey technical ideas in understandable terms.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • 1+ years of professional experience building, deploying, and troubleshooting computer systems, hardware, printers, software, and IP networks within an enterprise environment.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience supporting Mac iOS and Linux environments.
  • Technical certifications (i.e. A+, Network+, MCSE).
  • Working knowledge of audio-visual equipment.
  • Ability to work independently while managing interruptions.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and phone communication skills.
