About the position

Cognizant is seeking an IT Site Services Technician to join our team in New Brunswick, NJ. This full-time position is integral to our Cloud, Infrastructure, and Security Services Practice (CIS), where we focus on driving digital transformation and modernizing infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of the digital era. As an IT Site Services Technician, you will be responsible for providing on-site technical support, ensuring that our technology infrastructure operates smoothly and efficiently. You will play a key role in managing the physical aspects of our data center operations, including the commissioning and decommissioning of infrastructure devices, and providing essential support for our technology team on demand. In this role, you will be tasked with providing smart hands and feet support, which includes physical access to vendors for site and communication rooms, as well as managing power shutdown maintenance activities. You will also be responsible for printer management, ensuring continuity of print services, and coordinating cable patching with vendors. Your expertise in basic network connectivity, including LAN and Wi-Fi access, will be crucial in maintaining operational efficiency. Additionally, you will utilize your advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to address incidents reported by end users, ensuring that IT devices and mobility support are effectively managed. The IT Site Services Technician will also oversee IT asset lifecycle management for the location, which includes asset collection coordination, secure storage, labeling, imaging, allocation, recovery, hygiene validation, disposal, and system updates. This position requires a proactive approach to ensure that all IT services are delivered seamlessly and that any issues are resolved promptly. Responsibilities

  • Provide smart hands and feet support for the Technology team on demand.
  • Rack and stack support for commissioning and decommissioning infrastructure devices.
  • Provide physical access to vendors on demand for site/communication rooms (IDF/MDF/MMR) and data center/server room.
  • Manage power shutdown maintenance activities, including shutting down network devices and servers in the data center.
  • Monitor printer management and coordinate with vendors to ensure print services continuity.
  • Coordinate cable patching with vendors as needed.
  • Ensure basic network connectivity (LAN), Wi-Fi access, video Tandberg, printer, and voice are available at the site.
  • Utilize advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities to narrow down the root cause of incidents reported by end users for IT devices and mobility support/management.
  • Install and configure hardware and software components to ensure usability by end users.
  • Manage IT asset lifecycle management for the location/region, including asset collection coordination with vendors, secure storage, labeling, imaging, allocation, recovery, hygiene validation, disposal, and system updates.

Requirements

  • Data center experience is required.
  • Experience with LAN management is necessary.
  • Mid-level technical skills are preferred.
