About the position

NexonIT is seeking a skilled IT Software/Technical Writer to join our team in Paramus, NJ. This hybrid position requires the candidate to work onsite two days a week, with the remaining days being flexible. The primary responsibility of the Technical Writer will be to create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), user manuals, training materials, and technical specifications. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with subject matter experts to gather necessary information, ensuring that all technical content is accurate, complete, and clear. This role is crucial in translating complex technical information into understandable language for various audiences, including employees, clients, and regulatory agencies. In addition to documentation development, the Technical Writer will assist in creating and maintaining compliance documentation to support adherence to utility regulations, industry standards, and certification requirements. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all documentation meets regulatory standards and internal quality assurance guidelines, updating materials as needed to reflect changes in regulations, procedures, or best practices. The role also involves developing training materials and resources to support employee onboarding and ongoing education on best practices. The Technical Writer will facilitate training sessions and workshops, effectively communicating technical information to non-technical audiences. Furthermore, the candidate will maintain a centralized repository of technical documentation, ensuring version control and document integrity while implementing documentation management systems to streamline processes and improve accessibility. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong ability to document integration flows between different applications and business continuity planning.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs, user manuals, training materials, and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather information and ensure accuracy, completeness, and clarity of technical content.
  • Translate technical information into clear and understandable language for diverse audiences.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of compliance documentation to support utility regulations and industry standards.
  • Ensure that all documentation meets regulatory standards and internal quality assurance guidelines.
  • Update documentation as needed to reflect changes in regulations, procedures, or best practices.
  • Develop training materials and resources to support employee onboarding and ongoing education.
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops to communicate technical information effectively to non-technical audiences.
  • Maintain a centralized repository of technical documentation and ensure version control and document integrity.
  • Implement documentation management systems and tools to streamline documentation processes and improve accessibility.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer.
  • Experience developing training materials and conducting training sessions is preferred.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy and consistency in technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in document authoring tools, such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and LucidChart.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations, industry standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of Operational Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance Management, Internal Audit, Data Privacy, and Policy Management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience writing Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications such as ISTQB or Certified Software Quality Engineer are a plus.
