About the position

The IT Specialist (APPSW/INET) position within the Department of Defense is responsible for the development and sustainment of computer applications, focusing on the full software development lifecycle. This includes software design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance, while ensuring compliance with cybersecurity policies. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance usability and accessibility of web applications, and to provide technical expertise in information sharing solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical web application development expert, providing recommendations on technology, usability, and accessibility.
  • Lead the development of methods for efficient integration, analysis, control, manipulation, duplication, distribution, storage, and retrieval of architecture information and data.
  • Consult with customers to understand usability requirements and translate them into user interface designs and prototypes.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity and information assurance policies while liaising with the cybersecurity team.
  • Research technical capabilities of partner organizations and assess contractor performance for information sharing solutions.
  • Advise senior management on the use of web applications to advance DoD goals regarding architecture information sharing.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, including participation in the software development lifecycle and direct collaboration with contractors.
  • Experience in assessing application design changes and communicating modifications to cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Project management experience overseeing application software development with contractor personnel.
  • Expertise in software, agile principles, DevSecOps, and cloud technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with modern programming languages such as HTML5, JAVA, Python, Ruby, and GO.
  • Knowledge of Service Oriented Architectures and data integration software.
