About the position

The specialist will also be responsible for implementing network upgrades, patches, and configurations in accordance with organizational standards and security protocols. The role extends to systems administration, where the specialist will administer and maintain servers, storage solutions, and virtual environments. Responsibilities include performing system backups, restores, and disaster recovery planning, while ensuring compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) policies and guidelines through regular updates and security patches. Data administration is another key aspect of this position, where the IT Specialist will manage and maintain databases, ensuring data integrity, availability, and security. This includes performing data migrations, backups, and recovery operations, as well as collaborating with other IT teams to optimize data storage and retrieval processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT support, network operations, systems administration, and data administration, with a focus on DoD IT operations in a classified environment being highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in IT support, network operations, systems administration, or data administration.
  • Previous experience in a classified environment with a focus on DoD IT operations is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving technical issues across various platforms, including Windows, Linux, and network environments.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other networking protocols.
  • Experience with systems administration tasks, including user management, file permissions, and server maintenance.
  • Familiarity with database management and administration, including SQL, backup, and recovery.
