About the position

Responsible for the setup, function, and availability of all MEPS/METS Information Technology (IT) assets and telecommunication equipment, ensuring MEPS/METS staff and service liaisons have the technology to support the processing of applicants for military service, and that MEPS support-staff have the technology to support the general operation of the MEPS/METS.

Responsibilities

• Ability to respond to and resolves customer problems, requests, and questions.
• Knowledge of methods and practices to install, troubleshoot, repair, and recover IT systems.
• Knowledge of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices.
• Knowledge of USMEPCOM mission sufficient to understand MEPS employees needs and requirements.
• Ability to train local users in IT applications used within USMEPCOM and the local MEPS.
• Ability to maintain accountability for IT systems within the MEPS.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with performing troubleshooting IT hardware and software.
• Assisting higher level IT support resolving servers and data processing issues.
• Working with multiple workstations, Local Area Network, network devices and providing IT support to the organization.
• Must obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.
• Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.
